It has long been heard that Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) French forward Killian Mbappe will be joining Real Madrid.A former Jerome RothenPSG midfielder, Jerome Rothen believes the France forward will move to the Santiago Bernabeu at some point in the near future.
Mbappe join at PSG from Monaco in 2017. The following year, the team purchased him for £ 130 million. The 21-year-old player has scored 90 goals in 120 matches since joining the club. He also assisted on 49 goals. PSG certainly will not want to leave such the performer.
So the news came out that PSG had made quite a profitable offer to retain Mbappe. But there has been no sign of any new agreement so far.
However, Mbappe has consistently been linked with a move to Real Madrid to work with French great Zinedine Zidane, and former PSG midfielder Jerome Rothen has claimed the striker was close to sealing a move to the Real Madrid.
"I know from club sources that a deal to take Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid was almost done," Rothen, who won two titles during his six years at PSG, told Radio Montecarlo.
"But with what has been happening, I'm sure that Mbappe's arrival at Real Madrid will be postponed."
Whether that move to Madrid occurs or not, former winger Rothen is convinced Mbappe will not sign an extension to his current PSG contract, which is set to expire in 2022.
"There is no way that Mbappe will extend his contract with PSG," Rothen said. "They will have an agreement between them in place because PSG agreed to let him go this summer. In my opinion, it's just a question of time."
Meanwhile, PSG head forward Edinson Cavani has announced the departure of the club. Neymar also wants to return to Barcelona. So if Mbappe leave the club, the club can fall into oblivion. They are trying hard to hold him. A few days ago, the club's Sporting Director Leonardo said they would not leave Mbappe at any cost.
Although Mbappe currently one of the best in star fame, he is evaluated at PSG after Neymar. He gets about half the salary of the Brazilian star.
But for a long time, Real Madrid has been wanting him for the main player of the club. There is an offer of the highest salary . So it will be no surprise if Rothen's comments come true.
